Description: 400ft buffer, 200ft on either side of a fiber cable, created by Communication Maintenance for the purpose of blue staking. Blue Staking is the act of marking underground facilities such as electric, gas, water, telephone, cable or other underground facilities so that these networks are not damaged during excavation, trenching or digging activities. For the telecom network, the Blue Stake buffer indicates the area in which the fiber or conduit may actually be located, should their marked locations be incorrect, and where Communictation Maintenance should look for either fiber or conduit.
